Common questions

How do I play?

Take turns placing stones. The first player to get five in an unbroken line, across, down or diagonally, wins. Black moves first.

How do I change the board size or rules?

Open Settings from the Home screen. Board size, how many in a row, opponent (computer or two players) and who moves first all live there. New game only asks how hard.

I left a game. Is it lost?

No. Your game is saved automatically. Tap Continue on the Home screen to pick it up.

I tapped the wrong square.

Tap Undo to take your move back. To stop it happening, turn on "Tap twice to place" in Settings: the first tap shows where the stone will land, and the second places it.

Master keeps beating me.

It's meant to be tough. Gomoku favours whoever moves first, so play Black, use Hint when you're stuck, and try Expert or Hard to sharpen your openings.

There's no sound.

Check that Sound is on in Settings, that its volume slider isn't at zero, and that your phone's media volume is up.

How do I reset my stats?

Settings → Reset stats. This can't be undone.

Does it collect my data?

No. See the privacy policy: no permissions, no internet, nothing leaves your phone.
